What is the ADL service?
The ADL service is the fastest Internet service you can get, delivering the full power of the Net to your computer using a cable wire instead of a phone line. With ADL, you get the Internet at speeds up to 100 times faster* than a 28.8 modem. And, since ADL uses cable, you don't have to bother with a phone line ever again. No dialing in, no busy signals, no unexpected disconnects, absolutely no hassles!

What makes ADL so fast?
ADL leverages the high bandwidth capabilities of cable TV lines, as well as a hierarchical, distributed network architecture with proprietary caching and replication technologies to overcome many of the bottlenecks that plague typical Internet connections today.

What are the system requirements for ADL?
ADL supports Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, and MacOS 7.6.1 or greater. The table below outlines the system requirements:

What hardware is included in the ADL service?
ADL will help you get all the hardware you need to get up and running. In many areas, this includes a cable modem and Ethernet card (10/100 Mbps) to connect it to your computer. In other areas, you may be able to purchase your own cable modem. Either way, your cable company will make sure you have everything you need to have a great ADL experience.

What is a cable modem?
A cable modem is an external device that hooks up to your computer. Instead of getting an internet connection through your telephone wire, you get a connection through your cable network (the same place your cable TV Connection comes from). Cable modems translate radio frequency (RF) signals to and from the cable plant into Internet Protocol (IP), the communications protocol spoken by all computers connected to the Internet. How much will the ADL service cost?
Cable operators set their own prices for the ADL service. Monthly subscription prices range from Rs. 880 upwards per month, depending on the service you opt for.  This does not include the cable modem rental. (5% Service Tax is applicable)

Are there additional installation or setup fees?
The installation fee ranges from Rs. 750 to Rs. 3000, depending on your choice of service.

If I don't subscribe to cable TV, can I still get the ADL service?
Yes. Depending on your home, apartment, and availability, a connection from the neighborhood cable system to the desired location within your home may be necessary. However, you are not obligated to subscribe to a cable television service to receive ADL.

Can I have more than one email address?
As of present, ADL supports only one email address for domestic subscribers and two or more email addresses for commercial subscribers.

What Web browsers does ADL support?
The user is free to use any browser of his choice.

Does ADL offer a dial-up number for access when I am away from home?
Not presently.

Can I watch TV and use ADL at the same time?
Yes. Neither television nor data signals are affected by simultaneous use.

How can I get cable from the TV in my living room to the PC in my bedroom?
One of the advantages of using ADL is that, in most cases, it uses the existing cable that is already in your home. This cable is capable of carrying both video signals and data signals at the same time. While it may only be necessary to install a splitter on the existing cable, due to the potential of introducing "noise" or interference into the cable system, a cable technician will perform the installation of the splitter and cable outlet in the secondary location. If user-installed splitters are already present, the technician will perform quality assurance tests before deeming the service operational, and, if necessary, will rewire the outlet to meet proper specifications.

Can I hook up more than one computer to my cable modem?
ADL offers Multiple Computer Access to the commercial segment only.  You can hook up additional computers to ADL and have all computers online simultaneously. We also plan to provide IP addresses so that you can have your own home network.

Can I attach a server to your network?
No. The ADL service is for residential, casual use only and does not support or allow servers of any kind from the home. However the corporate segment of the subscribers may be able to make use of a server.

What steps does ADL take to ensure that my online experience is safe and secure?
The ADL service offers sufficient levels of encryption, firewalls, and codification to ensure security.

Can I use any TCP/IP stack with the ADL service?
Yes. However, ADL currently supports only Windows 95, 98, NT 4.0, 2000 Professional, and MacOS 7.6.1 with Open Transport v. 1.1 or greater TCP/IP stacks.
